A time to just relax and blow up your competition. I just wish the store would work so I could buy some of the cars. You get several as you unlock them when playing the game but some are for purchase and the store connects to the apple App Store and I never got it to work.
Township is great until you advance into the game. I got to just checking it once a day, filled some orders and when about my business. Sometimes you will wait for some time before you have the requirements for buildings. These items only come on a train, it would be good to be able to purchase them in the market there. Great video 🙂.
I’ve been writing about technology for two decades and am always struck by how the sector swings from startling innovation to regular repetitiveness. My areas of specialty are wearable tech, cameras, home entertainment and mobile technology. Over the years I’ve written about gadgets for the Daily Telegraph, the Sunday Times, the Daily Mail, the Sun, Metro, Stuff, T3, Pocket-lint, Wareable.com and Wired. Right now most of my work appears in the Independent, the Evening Standard and Monocle Magazine. Parenthetically, I also work as an actor, enjoying equally the first Mission Impossible movie, a season at Shakespeare’s Globe and a stint on Hollyoaks.

Trends of the Year Although the headlines are the apps which win the app of the year titles in each section, just as interesting is the way Apple has identified popular trends. For apps, the trend is self-care, and the importance of wellness apps. Apple picked out several: Fabulous – Motivate Me, Shine Self-Care and Meditation, Calm and 10% Happier. And it also made a point of referring to one that isn’t as new but remains the gold standard for mindfulness apps: Headspace.
The trend for gaming is the kind of competitive gaming typified by Fortnite, Clash Royale, Hearthstone and PUBG Mobile. My choice: Headspace. Just thinking about this app makes me feel calmer and more mindful. ProCreate, now in Pocket form. IPhone App of the Year Procreate Pocket $4.99, £4.99 UK If you’ve used the full-size Procreate you’ll know it’s astonishingly good at making the least creative among us (I mean me) feel better about themselves. The image I’ve used is a painting I managed on the iPad Pro. Regular Forbes readers will recognize that that’s my dog.
I’m not saying it’s any good, but I couldn’t have done it on my own. Procreate Pocket is the version for iPhone which lets you paint and draw on the go. It’s a deep app with extra capabilities which reveal themselves as you go along, adding extra sophistications. Alto’s Odyssey, winner at the Apple Design Awards 2018. My choice: Alto’s Odyssey, which has won game of the year for Apple TV and remains a brilliant game on iPhone and iPad. Though I still wish there was a way to get past the challenges you just can’t snag iPad App of the Year Froggipedia $3.99, £3.99 Oh, how I wish this had been available when I was a kid and I didn’t have to use a scalpel and a real frog in my biology lesson.
I imagine the frog might have felt the same. Like so many iPad apps, it combines great use of the big screen with an innovative approach. Mac App of the Year Pixelmator Pro $39.99, £39.99 UK Image editing has rarely been easier and never looked better.
Of course, every change is non-destructive so you can go wild in creating outlandish artistic effects and row back on them when you realize you’ve gone way, way too far. If only life was like that. My choice: MailButler.
You know when you want the Mail program to do that bit more, like easily schedule your emails, note that you’ve used the word attached in the copy but haven’t attached anything, or help you know if your recipient has actually opened your last message? MailButler makes it happen. The Gardens Between is Mac Game of the Year Mac Game of the Year The Gardens Between $19.99, £19.99 UK The puzzle game with a strong story line and the neatest feature: the capability to push time forward and back. My choice: Starman: Tale of Light. Who can resist a black-and-white story with an enigmatic hero, haunting music and clever puzzles? There’s much more information about the year in apps in the Apple Newsroom post,. I’ll end with a couple of my favorite discoveries: the chosen Watch apps included Just Press Record (which I find indispensable) and Swing Tennis Tracker, which I’ve never used.
TED Talks Daily was the most downloaded podcast in the UK, the place where the top paid iPhone App was the Driving Theory Test 2018 Kit – I find both these facts reassuring.
